Rachel is passionate about working with youth (12-25yrs). She relates well to young people, taking a genuine interested in their lives and treating them with respect. Over the years she has enjoyed seeing many young people grow, overcoming their difficulties and learning mental health strategies that she hopes they will use throughout their lives.

Rachel has worked for many years as an Alcohol and Other Drug Clinician. She is aware that changing behavior and substance use is complex and difficult. Especially when there is addiction. Rachel works with her clients to achieve the goals they set for themselves in a non-judgmental and collaborative way.

Rachel is an Emotion Focused Therapist. This kind of therapy creates change through understanding our emotional triggers and reactions. Also becoming more aware of the complexity of our emotions and how we experience them in our body. This enables exploration of the underlying meaning behind a lot of our emotional states and behaviour.

Animal Assisted Therapy

Animal Assisted Therapy

Rachel is assisted by a Therapy Dog, Caramello, a golden Labrador. Caramello provides comfort, acceptance and emotional support. She will not judge you and your secrets are safe with her.

You can reflect on issues that are affecting your relationships or explore ways of living a fuller, more meaningful life with someone from outside of your family and social circle.

My passion for counselling comes from a desire to reduce suffering. Our experiences and learning in life sometimes bring us to a place where we feel overwhelmed or powerless. When we are ‘stuck’ in negative emotional states we can experience emotional pain as intense and debilitating as a physical injury.

Some things that occur in our lives we cannot change, but what we can change is how react to what is going on around us. This is often a process and through which we learn about ourselves and why we react the way that we do. It is my hope that through assisting my clients to gain a greater awareness and understanding of themselves they can become more compassionate towards themselves and more accepting of their emotional reactions. Through this process, suffering can be reduced regardless of the circumstance in life that they find themselves in.
